Take the classic combo of sautéd onions, mushrooms and steak and make it vegetarian, using strips of Loma Linda Vegetable Steaks. Packed into a pita bread roll, each steak is ready to use straight out of the can, with great texture and flavor to compliment the vegetables. Each Vegetable Steak-filled pita serves great as a meal, especially when paired with salad or fries, and takes almost no time to prepare.
Serving Size: 2 Pita Bread Halves
- 1 can Loma Linda Vegetable Steaks, cut into strips
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 1 mushroom, sliced
- 1 whole-wheat pita bread cut in halves
In a large skillet sauté in oil onion and mushroom until tender; set aside.
In same skillet add vegetable steak strips and heat about 3 minutes. Stir in onion and mushroom mixture.
Spoon equal amounts of steak strips mixture into each of the pita bread halves. Serve hot with favorite salad and dressing.
