JOB DESCRIPTION:
A Palletizer is responsible for set-up and operation of the automatic palletizer, stretch-wrap machine and related equipment. Takes full pallets, stretches them and puts in warehouse. Being a Palletizer reads and interprets blueprints and diagrams to select, position and secure machinery. Operating forklifts to move pallets of products between storage racks and workstations. Inspecting pallets to ensure that they are structurally sound and safe for use.
Safety is an important skill for palletizers because they operate heavy machinery.
Palletizers must be able to notice small imperfections in the pallets they create. This is because the pallets they create are often used to transport goods that are sensitive to damage. For example, if a palletizer notices that a pallet isn’t perfectly balanced, they may need to adjust the pallet’s weight distribution to ensure the pallet doesn’t fall apart during transportation.
Palletizers use their hands to operate machinery and perform various tasks. Having good dexterity can help you perform your job duties with greater accuracy and efficiency.
Communication is the act of conveying information through speech, writing or other methods. Palletizers operate machines, so it’s important for them to be able to communicate with the people operating the machines and the people operating the conveyor belts.
Palletizers often lift and move heavy pallets and stacks of product throughout the workday. Physical stamina is important for this job, as it can help you work efficiently and avoid injury.
